If you want to know the quotations of Umberto Boccioni's works, here is a simple and intuitive guide

GUIDE TO THE QUOTATIONS OF WORKS BY UMBERTO BOCCIONI

Boccioni is one of the most important artists of the 20th century in Italy and Europe. He died very young, in 1916, so there are very few works on the market, and the few that do exist are the object of contention of the world's greatest collectors.
As with the other artists to whom we have dedicated a guide to quotations, it is essential to divide his artistic production into periods and techniques for Boccioni.
Umberto Boccioni produced paintings (on canvas and on wood), drawings on paper, sculptures and graphic works.
His production, on the other hand, can be divided temporally into two periods:
1) Pre-Futurist figurative period (up to about 1910).
2) Futurist period (1911 onwards).

PRE-FUTURIST FIGURATIVE PERIOD - QUOTATIONS

The record for a Boccioni canvas from this period is 1,200,000 euro, a figure spent by a collector for a 1907 portrait measuring 68x68 cm.
Records aside, an oil on canvas or panel by Umberto Boccioni, made in his pre-Futurist period, can be valued and sold for between EUR 30,000 and EUR 600,000.
Before his adhesion to Futurism, Boccioni also made some drawings, which are certainly easier to find on the market than canvases or plates.
The record for a figurative drawing by Boccioni is 160,000 euros, spent on a 100x70 cm pastel on paper.
On average, a drawing by Boccioni can be priced and sold on the market between €3,000 and €90,000.
Boccioni was also a highly regarded engraver. His graphic works, almost all of which were produced in the figurative period, are just as rare as the drawings and oils on canvas/canvas, but of course as they are still works produced in print runs, they are less valuable.
The record for an engraving by Umberto Boccioni is 28,000 euros, a figure spent on a splendid etching (Lake with Swans, 1908).
On average, Boccioni's graphics (whether etchings, engravings, pointillists or lithographs) can be valued and sold on the market between EUR 300 and EUR 10,000.

FUTURIST PERIOD - QUOTATIONS

Umberto Boccioni's Futurist period is the one most sought-after by collectors and, therefore, certainly the most expensive and listed.
During the Futurist period Boccioni produced oil paintings on canvas and board, drawings on paper, sculptures and graphic works.
The record for a work by Boccioni from the Futurist period was reached two years ago, when the famous sculpture Unique Forms of Continuity in Space (the one on the 20 cent coin, to be precise), sold for an impressive 14,500,000 euros.
The year before, in 2018, another work by Boccioni set a new record, when a 60x60 cm canvas from 1912 (Head + light + environment) sold for EUR 10 million.
Unfortunately, the sales history of Boccioni's Futurist paintings is almost non-existent, as works from this period are very few and rare, and the few that do exist are now almost all in museums. It is not difficult to imagine, however, that if a Boccioni futurist painting were to come onto the market, it would sell for at least between 400,000 and 7,000,000 euros.
As for Boccioni's Futurist drawings, here too the sales history is very poor, for the same reasons highlighted above. Nevertheless, we have more points of reference and can be more precise.
The sales record for a Futurist drawing by Boccioni is 1,900,000 euros, a figure spent on a 50x60 cm drawing from around 1913.
On average, a drawing by Boccioni from the Futurist period can be priced and sold on the market between EUR 20,000 and EUR 500,000.

Finally, as far as Boccioni's graphic works from the Futurist period are concerned, his sales history only allows us to know of one lithograph executed in 1914, whose value and sale price ranges between 400 and 5,000 euros.
