BIOGRAPHY
He was born in Terni on 24 December 1890. He moved to Rome and began attending the Academy of Fine Arts from which he graduated in 1911. He won a scholarship, which enabled him to travel to Turin and Paris. His apprenticeship with G.A. Sartorio allowed him to learn and refine painting techniques.
His exhibition debut was in 1915 at the III Roman Secession Exhibition.
In 1920 he shared a studio with Giorgio De Chirico.
The following year he exhibited at the 1st Roman Biennale. He joined the Valori Plastici group and took part in the Florentine Spring exhibition in 1922. Nevertheless, Mario Broglio, the group's founder, crushed his work and excluded him from the group, along with Socrates, Francalancia and Oppo.
Nevertheless, Sarfatti in the room dedicated to Dieci artisti del Novecento Italiano in the XCIII Esposizione romana degli amatori e cultori of 1927 did not fail to include one of her works.
In the meantime, Bartoli has already started to devote himself to political satire and sarcastic drawings.
Another famous project is the portraits of artist and literary friends, which began in 1925.
He then exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1930, the I Quadriennale in Rome in 1931, and the II Quadriennale.
Holder of the chair of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, he is famous for his constant activity as a contributor to the literary page of Il Mondo. He died in Rome in 1971
