Modern and contemporary art auctions confirm positive trend

The 21 and 22 May appointments with Arcadia Casa d'Aste's modern and contemporary art sales registered excellent results, confirming the positive trend of the market in this sector for this year as well. The auction featured a selection of works by important contemporary authors including Achille Perilli, Alighiero Boetti, Giuseppe Caporossi, Ottone Rosai and many others, which attracted the interest of bidders from Italy and beyond.

The exhibition days preceding the two auctions recorded a notable attendance at the prestigious venue of Arcadia Casa d'Aste Roma, Palazzo Celsi, a foretaste of the interest and enthusiasm of collectors for the works offered at auction by our experts. Several notable results were achieved in the two Contemporary art auctions, including the sale no. 21 of 21 May "The Ennio and Franca Parrelli Collection - Paintings, Sculptures, Graphics, Modern and Contemporary Art" the CP Surface signed Caporossi, sold for €34,720 and the two masterpieces by Achille Perilli, "Fragment" sold for €7,440, doubling the adjudication, and "The Blessed Island of Anxiety" sold for €12,400.

In addition to these early, excellent results, auction no. 22 in Modern and Contemporary Art on 22 May offered important works by equally important authors. Among the best adjudications was Mario Tozzi's 'Testina', a work from 1968 characterised by its strong monumentality and geometry, which fetched €11,780.

Other notable adjudications included that for Antonietta Raphael Mafai's 'Homage to Mafai', which sold for €6,200, Ottone Rosai's 'White Houses', which sold for €11,780 and Piero Guccione's 'Wheat Field', which quadrupled its auction base, sold for €10,540. Also highly appreciated in Arcadia's auction was Tato whose 'Dinamismo Aereo' of 1938 fetched €9,920.

The original 'Coriandolo' from 1985 signed Tano Festa fetched € 6,200 to a collector, while Michelangelo Pistoletto's silkscreen print on steel plate 'Scimmia in Gabbia' far exceeded the auction base, selling for € 9,920. Finally, one of the best sales in the auction of Modern and Contemporary Art was the 1988 fabric embroidery 'Mettere i verbi all'infinito' signed Boetti, which sold for €24,800.
