Christ at the column

The warm and soft colors, the soft contours, the modeling of the complexion and the tendency to simplify the forms - according to the desire to "geometrize", as it was written on one occasion - suggest the hand of the Genoese painter Luca Cambiaso. A comparison with the famous "Christ at the Column" preserved in Genoa at the Museums of Strada Nuova (Palazzo Bianco, inv. No. PB 2070) may prove useful in this sense. The canvas is accompanied by a gilded and lacquered frame.
