Moses in the desert receiving the Manna
The biblical episode described in the scene is the one reported in the book of Exodus in which Moses receives the Manna from God, a nutrient that will allow him and the Jewish people to survive during the long years in the desert. The iconography will be very successful during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, allowing the painters who exercised great freedom in compositional choices.
