FLOWERS VASE WITH CUPID PUNISHMENT RELIEF
Relief flower vase with Cupido's punishment. Oil on canvas, 112x102 cm. The Mantovano was a painter of probable Mantuan origin but of Venetian formation, whose pictorial corpus was only recently studied in 1998, with the discovery of four of his works in the deposits of the Accademia dei Concordi of Rovigo. From that first nucleus the image of a specialist in the painting of flowers emerged clearly, an artist characterized by the habit of repeating his own modules with the propensity to represent old-fashioned vases with masks and vases engraved with reclined figures.
