ST ANTONY ABBOT TEMPTATIONS
Temptations of St. Anthony Abbot. Oil on canvas, 77x97 cm. Within coeval frame. The painting can be ascribed to Montanini, a painter with a bizarre temperament that, arrived to Rome, begins to absorb the artistic aspects of the local baroque, full of capricci (immaginary landscapes). Similiar to Pier Francesco Mola's, but above all of the landscape of Rosiano, evident in the way of representing the bush, the twisted trees and the dry branches.
