December auctions
JEWELLERY, WATCHES AND PRECIOUS STONESAN EVOCATIVE COLLECTION OF NEAPOLITAN CRIB SHEPHERDS
It is a luxurious Christmas that is celebrated at the Arcadia Auction House in Rome.
Within the walls of Palazzo Celsi, in fact, on Monday 18 December, from 2 p.m. onwards, it will be possible to purchase numerous jewellery pieces, watches and precious stones to put on your finger, in your safe or, more simply, under the tree at home, right next to the crib, which can be complemented by original shepherds in the Neapolitan tradition, auction on Tuesday 19 December from 4 p.m.
Jewellery, as we were saying, from the 19th to the 21st century with an elegant and precious manufacture, such as a pair of earrings signed Mario Buccellati, delightfully decorated with sapphires, rubies and diamonds (estimate €5,000-7,500). In addition to some sixty lots dedicated to luxury watches and lighters, a large section devoted to disassembled precious stones (rubies, emeralds, sapphires) will be auctioned.
Standout among the pages of the jewellery auction catalogue a rich parure consisting of bracelet, earrings, ring and necklace in 18 kt yellow gold with centres of 49.00 ct diamonds and 45.00 ct rubies (estimated value € 21,000-26,000). The following day, the forecast announces, as mentioned, the arrival of a warm Christmas wind that will open the doors of Palazzo Celsi to the Neapolitan Crib and its Shepherds. As last year, lots as unique as they are traditional in dell’the art of the Campania nativity scene will be auctioned.
A market bench in terracotta and wax, filled with foodstuffs, including cold meats, fruit and vegetables, is certainly worthy of note. As is the young sleeping Moorish servant (estimate € 2,000-2,500), a very rare figure from the Neapolitan nativity scene, accompanied by a punched silver cup, in the shade of a curtain. From the "very rare" to the "very common": the hunchback, a 26 cm shepherd born in the hands of Celebrano's workshops.
