The present panel is similar in style and iconography to the panel of the triptych in the Civic Museum of Pistoia, previously attributed to Lucas van Leyden and Hugo van der Goes, and later traced by Friedländer to the Master of Frankfurt. The similarities in the rendering of the Annunciation and the facial features confirm the quality and importance of our example.
