Bonnard's career was extensive, spanning more than sixty years and exploring the most diverse realms of art.
He tackled every subject and expressed himself with ease and conviction in every genre.
He painted portraits, landscapes, seascapes, and still lifes. He enjoyed painting interiors, depicting village festivals and scenes of Parisian life. He created large-scale decorations. He was a lithographer, etcher, and book illustrator.
Throughout his life, his restless imagination continued to search for new panoramas, horizons, and unknown skies, pausing here and there, always fascinated by an unexpected beauty he could discover in Auvergne as in Bourgogne, in Provence no less than in Normandy, always motivated by a universal sympathy for beings and things.
