PAIR OF GUAN VASES

Pair of porcelain guan vases with lid, decorated in cobalt blue below with floral motifs and auspicious symbols, height 41 cm. Reign of Emperor Yongzheng (1723-1735) or beginning of Qianlong, mid-eighteenth century. The decoration, in cobalt blue is called in China doucai (contrasting colors). On the body of the vases is depicted with auspicious symbols taken from the repertoire of the hundred antiques (bogu), of the eight precious things (babao - 1736/1795) and flowers particularly dear to the Chinese world as the peony (mudan) spring flower.
