Keshan Rug, Persia, Late 19th Century
This Keshan rug is a refined example of classic Persian weaving, featuring a large central floral medallion set against a densely decorated field of arabesques and "herati" motifs. The design is enriched by four elegantly adorned corner spandrels, framing the main composition in a harmonious color balance. The primary border showcases a sequence of intertwined flowers and arabesque scrolls on a deep blue background, flanked by narrower secondary borders with geometric and floral details.
