Cabinet "Shibayama", Giappone, periodo Meiji (1868 - 1912)

Lo stile Shibayama fu creato da Onoki Senzo (1772-1781) nella regione di Shibayama, oggi prefettura di Chiba, vicino a Tokyo ed è caratterizzato da elementi d’intarsio intagliati che oltre ad essere incastrati nel legno sporgono in rilievo sopra la superficie. Lo scopo di questo cabinet, chiamato "Shodana" era quello di espositore e contenitore, utilizzato per esporre oggetti d'arte o per conservare e organizzare vari beni come gli utensili utilizzati durante la cerimonia del tè. Date le loro dimensioni, erano destinati alle case con tetti alti, il che riflette i cambiamenti nell'architettura Meiji.
