Hanging lantern in gilded bronze, France, 18th century
Characterized by a slender octagonal architectural structure, with a central internal rod from whose base four arched arms with candle holders branch out. The frame is defined by finely chiseled uprights that frame large sheets of cut glass. The rich decoration is entrusted to a classic repertoire of acanthus leaves, volutes, cartouches and floral motifs, masterfully modeled in relief, which enliven both the upper band and the lower crown. The cymatium, embellished with palmette motifs and diamond-shaped panels, culminates in an elegant central element from which the suspension chain, also in gilded bronze, branches out, connected to a rosette measuring 50x31x24 cm.
