Landscape with young shepherds and grazing animals
The painting is positioned in a youthful phase of the Neapolitan painter's production, when his artistic research approached the experiments of Philipp Peter Roos (Rosa da Tivoli). The great skill in the representation of animals, expressive and ironic as in his style, coexists in this canvas with a focus on landscape representation, with the tree, the ruins and a rocky background; all expressed by a creamy pictorial material rich in luministic lighting.
The attribution to Domenico Brandi is due to Professor Ferdinando Bologna.
