rectangular in shape with burin surface; gilded interior to prevent corrosion, with a second perforated lid with plant and floral motifs intended to contain a sponge soaked in vinegar. Vinaigrettes were very popular in the 19th century and the smell of vinegar was made to smell for ladies in case of illness
