oval in shape with a rounded body crossed by ribs, resting on four feet in the form of a large scroll with curved ends; lid surmounted by a sculptural grip in the form of a dragon's head with left hand between the jaws and heraldic coat of arms within a cartouche to which on the other side corresponds an engraved dedication "presented to Sir Thomas Phillips Jr. by upwards of six hundred subscribers from the british public 1810"
