Pair of views with river landscapes

The canvases present two luminous views of the countryside with loops of the river and citadels. The small scattered figures, the result of frequenting the figurative models of Bamboccianti painters, the bright colors, and the balance of the compositions suggest the name of Paolo Anesi, a skilled and prolific Roman landscape painter active in the 17th century. The paintings are accompanied by seventeenth-century frames, silvered in mecca.
