Pittore Napoletano del XVIII secolo

The canvas depicts, according to a particularly elaborate composition and an effect of great sumptuousness, an Adoration of the Magi. The painting shows a certain closeness to some productions attributable to the Neapolitan painter Francesco Solimena and his pupils, where we can find a similar desire to translate the Gospel episode in terms of a sumptuous and grandiloquent vision. Even the consistency of the pictorial material, the chromatic accords and the brushstroke seem to suggest the Neapolitan derivation of the canvas. The work is accompanied by an antique frame in carved and gilded wood.
