Tribute to Francis Bacon
The work depicts Francis Bacon in three portraits, each measuring 39x34 cm (for a total therefore of 39x102 cm). The work develops with a frame an overall size of 63x133 cm.
The signature and the title "Homage to F. Bacon, Piero Guccione" are affixed to the back of the central painting.
"... Already in 1962 Guccione had tried to paint a head of Bacon, but that was a tribute ... it was not a portrait ... These portraits of Bacon take up that experience bringing it suddenly to a crowning point, to an acuteness so tortured and painful, that he makes the Triptych a masterpiece ...
