Allegorical scene
The canvas represents a complex allegory that probably refers to the theme of the renewal made by Christianity on paganism. The compositional architecture, the perfect chromatic balance and the great quality refer to a painter active in Rome who certainly had the opportunity to rework the Cortonesque lesson, and in general that of the glorious Roman Baroque, restoring it through an already eighteenth-century compositional will.
