View of Virgil's cave
The work, which represents a view of the Crypta Neapolitan or Virgil's Grotto, is part of that production which, between the end of the 18th century and the first decades of the 19th century, responded to the numerous requests for views and glimpses of places in the city of Naples. The sharpness of the painting and the compositional setting refer to the works of Saverio della Gatta.
