Arthur John Strutt

Oil painting on canvas. The painting, depicting a landscape with waterfalls and cities in the background, is the work of an important English landscape architect and archaeologist who settled in Italy in 1831. Strutt will go down in the news for having undertaken a journey on foot to southern Italy, from Rome to Palermo , whose observations were collected in the successful book, "A pedestrian tour in Calabria & Sicily" (A journey on foot in Calabria and Sicily), to which many landscape architects referred in the following years. As we can see, the bright colors and the balanced composition confirm the high quality of his paintings
