Dedication, signature and date lower right: To the Eagle the poor Giraffe in exile, 7 March 1926, A. Rossi

Angelo Rossi was one of the adherents to the artistic group of the XXV della Campagna Romana, a company of Italian artists of different ages, origins and schools united by the passion of portraying the figures and landscapes of the Roman countryside from life, active between 1904 and 1930 when it was dissolved by the fascist regime. Rossi called himself "Giraffe", due to his slender figure. The dedication "to the Eagle" inscribed in the lower right corner of the painting is probably addressed to the sculptor Ettore Ferrari, member of the group of XXV, called "Royal Eagle"
