Noah's sacrifice

The scene is part of a cycle called the 'Deluge' consisting of four canvases - the other three depict the Building of the Ark, the Entry of Animals into the Ark, and the Great Flood - and belongs to one of the many series of stories of Noah that Jacopo Bassano, one of the main interpreters of the Venetian figurative civilization of the sixteenth century, conceived around 1577.

This large painting of splendid quality could belong to a series of biblical canvases subsequently replicated several times by his son Leandro and his workshop.
