Theft of Europe

The attribution to Antonio Carracci (Annibale's nephew) is due to prof. Massimo Pirondini who believes that the painting we present here was done by the young Antonio towards the middle of the first decade of the seventeenth century after having seen the similar work by Hannibal in the Roman palace of Cardinal Odoardo Farnese and has drawn this slightly reduced version on four sides.
