Antique table crucifix in pistachio, olive and mother of pearl wood

with minute decoration made with the ancient technique of "tahbiir" by injecting ink on the engraved drawing; the figure of Christ is surmounted by the coat of arms of the Franciscan Order and the titulus crucis; at his feet the cross of Jerusalem, the risen Redeemer and the Virgin of Sorrows; at the ends of the cross the Evangelists are depicted. Trapezoidal base centered by the Annunciation within an oval enclosed by a radial pattern and two figures of Saints. On the bottom it bears the letters F F referable to the manufacture of the Franciscan Friars who since the sixteenth century have witnessed their presence in the Holy Land by introducing the use of mother-of-pearl for the production of small and large objects of Bethlehemite craftsmanship.
