Thomas Bardwell

Portrait of a gentleman. Oil on canvas, 76x63 cm. Signed and dated lower right TBardwell, fecit / 1744.. Within ancient frame readapted in carved and gilded wood. Bardwell was an English painter initially oriented towards the creation of country views and then became a specialist of the portrait genre since 1741, with results close to the Batoni. His works are conserved in most English museums.
