BRIDAL BED

Mahogany bridal bed with ebonized parts, enriched with ornamental trim in embossed and golden tolla; high squared head divided into six curved mirrors delimited by molded pilaster strips, surmounted by a bridal procession consisting of seven sculptural figures in gilded wood; in the center, Imene, the god of marriage flanked by dancing nymphs symmetrically arranged on the sides bordered by two figures of Cupid, a portrait blindfolded in the act of shooting an arrow. The side banks have a central ebonized frame embellished by a crown in a golden and embossed tolla; a similar partition characterizes the front part of the bed, finished above by carved and gilded wooden urn vases. The whole structure is underlined by small studs applied in sequence to form a bead; the lower profiles are underlined by lunettes embellished with tin corbels, bulb-shaped feet, 208x220x200 cm Marche, first quarter of the 19th century. Restorations and small deficiencies to the figures. A bed similar to the one presented here is in a private collection and comes from the Villa Bonaparte of Porto San Giorgio.
