S.CARLO BORROMEO
Oil on canvas, 74x80 cm. Within coeval frame. The work reflects the stylistic elements of the Jordanian lesson, especially in the female figure of the shoulders in the foreground, and shows tangencies with the production of her school destined for the province of the Kingdom of Naples, such as Basilicata and Puglia. Among the painters who played a predominant role in the spread of mature Jordanian are to mention Andrea Miglionico, Nicola Malinconico and Giuseppe Simonelli, to whom it is proposed to refer the qualitative painting presented here, also for the correspondence of the small figures that characterize the Simonelli production. These are to be counted as the most faithful aide and continuer of the workshop of the Jordan for his ability to perfectly imitate the master's color.
