ALLEGORY OF THE PAINTING ART

Oil on canvas, cm 73.5x58.5. opera is attributable to the Florentine school of the second quarter of the seventeenth century that produced a large amount of easel works - from various rectangular, oval and octagonal formats - depicting saints and allegorical figures often personifying the major arts, as in our case. Among the major and prolific artists who dedicated themselves to this pictorial genre are Cesare Dandini, Felice Ficherelli, Giovanni Martinelli and Simone Pignoni, to whom our anonymous painter has undoubtedly inspired.
