QIANLONG CHINESE BUDDHA VASE IN GIADAITE

Jadeite jade, depicting the so-called "Buddha potbellied" (Mile Fo); Chinese manufactory; Emperor Qianlong period (1736-1795) the second half of the 18th century. The jar, the result of a careful and elaborate technical execution, is realized in jadeite (feicui), a term used in China together with yu (jade); in fact jade is properly nephritic (calcium and magnesium silicate), while the jadeite is a sodium and aluminum silicate, but in China in the the eighteenth century, this distinction was not helded so the burmease production was similar to the China from Central Asia or Siberia' one.
