PSYCHE'S TOILETTE CLOCK

Psyche's Toilette clock, France, early 1800s cm 34x15x53. This clock, elegantly fashioned and detailed, can be dated to circa 1810 and features a broad ledge above the clockworks on which a morning toilette is being performed in early nineteenth century French fashion: a beautiful maiden is adorning herself in front of a large looking-glass, surrounded by the customary grooming articles, all in strict Neo-Classical style.
