Christ and St. Joseph of Arimathea

The composition of this painting was repeatedly approached by Lappoli, as it is testified by drawing kept in the Pinacoteca Nazionale of Siena which was initially attributed to Matteo Lappoli, father of John, but rightly returned by Cesare Brandi to our painter (1933). Influenced by the works of Andrea del Sarto and Jacopo Carucci, known as Pontormo, was also influenced by Sebastiano del Piombo, Parmigianino and Perin del Vaga. This painting can be properly be compared with the artist's 'The Immaculate and Saints' of the Museum of Montepulciano.
