biography
VeniniMurano is a historic glassmaking company founded in 1921 in Murano, Venice, by Paolo Venini, a Milanese lawyer with a family tradition in glassmaking, and Giacomo Cappellin, a Venetian antique dealer. The original company was named "Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & C." and entrusted artistic direction to painter Vittorio Zecchin, who introduced an innovative style characterized by simple shapes and soft colors inspired by Renaissance masters. In 1925, following the split from Cappellin, Paolo Venini founded "Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Venini & C.", collaborating with prominent artists and designers such as Napoleone Martinuzzi, Tomaso Buzzi, and Carlo Scarpa, who helped renew the company's artistic and technical production. Venini stood out for its ability to combine Murano tradition with innovation, gaining international recognition and participating in major exhibitions like the 1929 Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The company played a fundamental role in the history of art glass, becoming a symbol of excellence and creativity in the field. The auction house Arcadia is associated with the sale of works and objects related to VeniniMurano, enhancing the artistic and cultural heritage of this entity.
